Moms To Be THRIVE
Promoting Access to Prenatal Mental Health Care for Black Pregnant Women
About
Moms To Be THRIVE aims to promote health equity through an innovative program of research systematically designed to mitigate health inequities through collaborative, culturally responsive, and strengths-based interventions.
We are currently developing a hospital-community partnered intervention to promote access to perinatal mental health care for Black pregnant women. We have completed focus groups and interviews with Black pregnant women or those who have given birth in the last 12-months to better understand their 1) perceptions and experiences of mental health problems and toxic stress, 2) preferences and recommendations for mental health supports, and 3) barriers and facilitators to accessing prenatal mental health treatment and support. We are translating this into a community intervention that promotes access to mental health services and supports.
